Rolling Stones Concert

I%26#39;m still a little concerned about them canceling. We%26#39;re 5 days away and they still haven%26#39;t announced an opening act. Can any of you Wichita residents tell me if they%26#39;ve started building the stage as yet. I%26#39;ve read that construction was suppossed to start today. If I know that they have started it would make me feel better.

Although the rumors ranged from local bard Lander Ballard on up to folk crooner Van Morrison, the Rolling Stones announced today that California indie rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will open the show Sunday at Cessna Stadium. The band also will open for the Stones in Missoula, Mont., on Oct. 4.

In keeping with the Stones early promise that the support acts on the encore leg of their ';A Bigger Bang'; tour would be ';young, contemporary acts,'; BRMC (as their fans call them), have just a few albums to their credit. But they earned critical acclaim for their most-recent effort, 2005%26#39;s ';Howl,'; which Entertainment Weekly described as ';deeply hypnotic narco-blues that conjure both The Band%26#39;s epic pastorals... and Nick Cave%26#39;s Southern Goth.';

Rolling Stones Concert

It was just announced on the 10 o%26#39;clock news that the first of the 70 semi loads of equipment have just arrived at Cessna Stadium to begin setting up for Sunday.

Thanks to you both for the info. Four days and counting. Kinda silly for someone pushing 60, huh?

Hawk,---It would be a lot sillier to sit at home on your butt and say,';I%26#39;m too old to go';. If you get the chance to do something that interests you .go for it.

Age is only a number! Enjoy the concert!

So do we get a trip report?

Don%26#39;t really have much of a trip report. We decided not to spend the night and just drive back after the concert. We got there in time for a Nu-Way before the concert. We were walking around the stadium to go to an entrance on the north side when Mick arrived, so he waved to us. The concert was fantastic, see this site: http://iorr.org/tour05/wichita.htm for a set list, some pictures, and reviews. I35 north had a LOT of concert traffic on it heading back to KC after. It was a great event, thanks everyone for all the help.
