Hi All,
My wife and I plan to vaction at K.C from Omaha-NE. we plan to drive by car saturday morning 26th and return by Monday 28th evening, I know its a last minute plan ( it%26#39;ll be one to cherish ) we have no clue where to start and what to do, we are just into the 30%26#39;s if that helps :-) I would like suggestions of any kind to make this one sweet trip for the both of us, thanks....
Omaha - K.C Trip Plan - HELPWith you living in Omaha, I won%26#39;t suggest the zoo or casinos:-)
Here are some of the special places, perhaps some will be your type of activity.
Museums: There are three standouts - The Steamboat Arabia Museum in the City Market, the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum near the Plaza, and the National World War One museum at the Liberty Memorial. All have received national attention.
Sports: The Kansas City Royals are playing in town this weekend, and there should be no problem picking up tickets at the stadium. You might also be interested in the Negro League%26#39;s Museum at 18th %26amp; Vine.
Jazz: The Kansas City Jazz Museum is in the same building as the Negro League%26#39;s Museum. The Museum includes The Blue Room, a great jazz bar with no smoking (because of the exhibits). There are many other places for live jazz. A few are Majestic Steakhouse and Phoenix Piano Bar %26amp; Grill at the upper end, or BB%26#39;s Lawn Side BBQ for more of a roadhouse feel.
Outdoors: The Overland Park Arboretum has10 gardens and 8 arboretum ecosystems with 5 miles of trails on 300 acres.
Shopping: The best shopping is Oak Park Mall in Overland Park/Lenexa. For window shopping and interesting street activity visit the Country Club Plaza. For Antiques there is a cluster of interesting shops at 45th and State Line. For art, visit the Cross Roads District just north of Union Station.
Restaurants: The quality and variety of restaurants has improved dramatically in the 20+ years I have lived here. A list of standouts is too long to post here. If there is a particular cuisine you like, let us know. But I will mention BBQ - the food KC is known for. There are a great many good places through out the area with different specialties, but I will mention two: Jack Stack near Union Station or in Overland Park for a high dinning experience, or Arthur Bryant%26#39;s for the low end classic experience that made KC BBQ famous.
Omaha - K.C Trip Plan - HELPThanks lighthouselovertoo, here is what I put together, let me know if this sounds like fun...thanks again

12:00 : Visit the Casino
Sun.27th May, 07: 09:00 : City Market
10:00 : Breakfast

All looks good, except I would have a back up for Oceans of Fun. I know that the National Weather Serivce says it will be a high of 79 on Monday, but the past couple of weeks we have seen a lot of days fall short of the forecast. Plus it will not be as warm in the morning.
Have fun! I always enjoy trips to Omaha.
